We continue our recipe sharing series with an easy and customizable blondie recipe!
The blondie is the brownie's brown sugar/vanilla-based cousin. Blondies are a great alternative for dessert lovers who aren't crazy about chocolate (or people who have given up chocolate for Lent), and can be customized in a variety of creative ways!
We're giving you the basic recipe and two ideas for jazzing up this delicious treat!
Basic Blondie Recipe
Ingredients:
3/4 cup of butter/shortening, melted
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp vanilla
1 pinch salt
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix butter, eggs, vanilla,salt, and sugars.
Gradually add in flour.
Pour batter into a greased baking dish.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
Slice and enjoy!
Customization 1: Salted Caramel Blondies
Extra ingredients:
5 tbsp caramel sauce (you can use ice cream sundae topping or melt caramel chips)
1 tbsp course sea salt
Directions:
After pouring batter into pan, drizzle with caramel sauce.
Run a butter knife through mixture, distributing caramel and creating a marbled pattern.
Sprinkle top of mixture with sea salt.
Customization 2: Snickerdoodle Blondies
Extra ingredients:
4 oz white chocolate, melted (baking squares or white chocolate chips)
4 tbsp cinnamon sugar
Directions:
When mixing batter, add 2 tbsp of cinnamon sugar to mixture.
After pouring batter into pan, drizzle with white chocolate.
Run a butter knife through the mixture, distributing white chocolate and creating a marbled pattern
Sprinkle top with remaining cinnamon sugar.
